He’s sort of a family friend so not actively looking to rip me off I think it’s more that he doesn’t know what (or what he doesn’t) have. So just trying to get an idea if it’s something I could buy and put a few thousand into to make it safe.

The seller is one of those people who buys anything and let’s it sit for years so really isn’t an asking price for it. It’s going to be more of a “here’s what I’d offer” deal. Last I knew he paid $4k for it nearly 10 years ago but that doesn’t mean anything to me. Thoughts?

Thanks all - not even worth buying as a weekend cruiser? Too much work needed to even make it safe/reliable?

Looking for input here. Not looking to fully restore this FJ by any means. Just merely looking for a weekend cruiser during the summer. Only would put $ into making it reliable/safe to drive a few hours each weekend. Any thoughts on what this is worth or how much I should offer the seller...

Thanks so much for all of your input! Hey Tom! Yes it's me. I took your advice and figured I get some opinions on here. Believe it or not, the seller still has the FJ and is moving to FL soon that's why I figured that I would offer him $3k. After reading all of these though, I see it's not...

Yes, in NY. Owner says he paid $5k for it years ago and wants to get around that. He's the kind of guy who has a whole bunch of stuff laying around (too much money and not sure what to do with it deal) so I don't doubt that he just bought it and let it sit. Not sure on the title. I wanted to...

Hello, I came across an FJ40 for sale and am very interested in getting into the FJ community. The seller knows very little about the vehicle at all and it has sat for about the past 3 years. It's for sale as is (no hardtop) but it does run and drive. I know pretty much nothing about these. Any...
