Two things. First, there are no exposed "oil lines" on the FJ60/62 oil cooler system. All the lines running to/from the cooler "brick" on the side of the engine block are carrying coolant - not oil. Oil enters and exits the cooler in passages where is mates/bolts down to the side of the engine...
All stock, CA smog legal. 87 w/156K miles. Lots of nick-nack replacement work, and time with a rag soaked in Simple Green. Especially after a roading trip. I like to work on clean equipment, and I can see leaks quickly. (I know - the 2F sticker on the AC assembly is not stock, but I like it.)
I guess at the end of the day, it's not sacrilege, nor problematic, and I don't know who's turning 3600 out of a 2F (good lawdy), you choose - right? Upgrade an alternator, keep the factory fan - totally the burden of the freedom of choice - right? We love these things.
I look at these things...
As repeated here - stick with factory fan and clutch. OEM if you can afford it.
As has been stated before, you have to remember, these things were engineered and built for service all over the world - the cooling systems on these beasts were engineered for climates ranging from 40 below zero...
