Probably wouldn't be worth more than the cool factor it adds to the listing. Plus I doubt I could ship ultra expired pyrotechnics. But if I don't end up selling then maybe!
I bought it from a guy in San Diego and it still had it so I guess I got lucky.
I've been a little concerned about having a 35-year-old flare in the car and debated disposing of it.... but it's too cool.
It limited me to 5 photos but I didn't think to just post more photos in a reply to my thread - oops.
Side note - I had the car washed but they didn't touch the underbody so it's a little dusty down there in the photos.
Yes the noise went away and hasn’t come back since (about 5 months, but probably only about 3-5 hours cumulative AC use during that time). I did use the AC a lot this past weekend driving back from the mountains and still no issues.
I don’t know exactly what they did when it was in the shop...
I had this same issue, horrible squealing when AC was engaged from AC control panel dial, and it was narrowed down to the clutch. The shop I took it to recommended a new unit from a third party over any repair, but after they diagnosed and put it back, the issue fixed itself! I used the AC...
Correct - the very end of both videos with the bouncing chirp.
I'd imagine the sound you're describing would sound very similar to what I was hearing. I had my head out my window for like 2 days while camping, trying to figure it out, and It did sound a lot like something spinning was...
I wouldn't quite describe it as tapping, it was a pretty aggressive chirp - between a buzz and a chirp. I never realized how hard it is to describe a sound with a keyboard... but it is worth checking out. Thanks for the advice.
The interior is rattling around for sure, the windows are particularly loud over the washboards. But when the camera is outside the window you can hear the sound more distinctly. I did initially think it was something flexing and chirping under pressure, but I tried driving over some bumps...
Correct - 1988 BJ74, 13BT, RHD, Japanese import, FRP top, all stock as far as I know, other than the radio. I'm sure some of that is repetitive but I can't keep track of all the variations between models.
If any other relevant information is needed please let me know.
Hello all
I took my BJ74 (1988 BJ74, 13BT, RHD, Japanese import, FRP top, all stock as far as I know, other than the radio) on a three-day, easy desert trip recently - nothing difficult, mostly sandy washes - and came back with a strange noise coming from somewhere under the hood. I'm not...
Update: I took my car into a shop for a bunch of small items and they were able to connect the new heater cable. The car was on the lift when I went in last so I was not able to verify, but they made it sound like there were no issues installing it. So the new assembly and the new cable are...
