    Fording with stock 1992 HDJ81

I pulled off the front diff filler plug on the side and a little bit of diff oil dripped out. The oil looked blackish grey. So if water did get in, it was a pretty small amount. Would you folks still change out the diff oil? Couldn't get the plug off of the back diff, but I'm assuming a similar...

Thanks folks, I've always found this forum to be full of kind, helpful and enthusiastic people, even with a newbie like myself. Much appreciated.

    Fording with stock 1992 HDJ81

Thanks for all of your replies. I'm currently on the road so I don't have much with me. Can some of this stuff wait until I get home (couple thousand kms)? Maybe what I'll do in the meantime is unscrew the plugs and check the diff oil levels.

    Fording with stock 1992 HDJ81

Hey folks, I recently did a little water crossing to get to a remote camp site on the Sunshine coast. I crossed it twice. Here is a video of the second crossing. I know that other threads have stated that the fording depth of the stock HDJ81 is 27.5". I have a small lift kit put on it...

    Fuel/lift Pump recommendation for HDJ81 WVO set-up

Hey folks, I have a waste veg oil set up installed on my HDJ81. It has a secondary tank installed at the rear of the vehicle with a coolant coil going through the tank to help heat the oil. The system also has a seperate fuel filter installed for the veg oil (aluminum base heated with coolant)...

Any recommendations on regular readings I should be getting on all those gauges for the 1HD-T? Oil Pressure, Coolant Temp, Pyrometer, Boost?

    Overheated 1HD-T

Thanks for all the advice folks! It turned out to be just a head gasket, which was annoying enough to replace. But thankfully the cylinder head was not cracked. After replacing the head gasket, my friend helped me install an aftermarket AEM coolant temp gauge and we also put a boost gauge on it...

    Overheated 1HD-T

Thanks a lot for all of the responses folks! Any tips on tests that I should do to ensure that there wasn't engine damage done (compression test, cooling system pressure test, etc.)?

    Overheated 1HD-T

Hello folks, I was driving my 80 series today, exited the highway and then went to go back on to the highway and noticed the temp gauge was just on the edge of the red (Maybe slightly into the red). I pulled over immediately and shut the engine off. The coolant reservoir was overflowing a bit...

    2 1/2 or 3 inch Exhaust HDJ81

Hey folks. I have a quick question. I'm looking into replacing the exhaust on my HDJ81 and I'm wondering what the pro and cons are of either going for 2 1/2 inch or 3 inch piping. So far, I've been told that bigger pipe lets the motor breath better but it will cost me $200-500 more. I'm not sure...

Need help replacing water pump and timing belt on '92 HDJ81

Hey y'all, my water pump recently started leaking after I did a coolant flush. I ordered the parts to replace the water pump, timing belt, alternator belts and turbo water hose. Anything else that people would recommend that I replace while doing this job? Also, can anyone point me to a nice...
