1996 LX450. I can open the hatch from the inside, but not the outside. I've read through all the threads I can and it's just not clicking in my mind how to make this work. Can someone explain this to me in steps like I'm a small child? :) May be hindered by the clips I purchased...

Appreciate the replies everyone. Once I have time I'm going to pull the alarm out by the root. For now, I've just disabled the horn (and hazard signals) by pulling out the appropriate fuse in the engine fuse box. Very short term fix, I hope.

Is there a way to just turn the alarm off or simply disconnect it? We're hauling kids all over the place this week and I don't have time to rip anything out. However, I also don't want to keep getting woken up at 4 AM.

Looks like I over analyzed this. Once all screws were re-tightened the seat is no longer rocking. Will be on the lookout for a salvage motor/track just in case I need it in the future. :) Thanks!

Blue circle is where the bushing is worn out and you can feel the seat moving back and forth. Red are the end stops that can't be removed. Maybe it's necessary to replace the entire splined shaft?

I've got a bone stock 96 LX450 with 173k miles on it. Zero rust. Texas truck and now located in North Carolina.

I recently sold my FJ60 for a 96 LX450 and the reliability and comfort of the 80 series is hard to beat. But, it will never turn heads the way that a nice 60 series does on the road.

Great questions and thanks for your response - it's my daily driver, so an all terrain tire will make most sense. I'll be modding it slowly over time, so right now I'm not sure exactly where it's headed. :) I'm expecting around 1.5k-2k re: budget.
