    Rescued 1971 FJ40

Thank you sir and thanks for pointing out the hand crank! I will check it out. And yes we did repaint those jack handle clips. It's the little things sometimes... And yes I'm still working on it! I live 120 miles away from it so it's hard to do anything with consistency. Since the last time...

    Brake Booster issue

I've adjusted them a lot, but I suppose I could look at them again. Any reason why you mention the front and not rear?

    Brake Booster issue

Yeah I replaced the master. And I wouldn't be surprised if the old master leaked into the booster. Looks like I'll check vacuum pressure and probably get a new booster. Thanks guys

    Brake Booster issue

I guess that needs to be my next test... What should I expect for normal vacuum pressure?

    Brake Booster issue

So except for the brake booster and brake hard lines, I've replaced or rebuilt every part of the brake system on my '71. Everything is rebuilt to stock with drum brakes all around. Here are the symptoms: Pedal will go to the floor the first pump or two and then everything is good for the rest...

    oil pan part numbers

So I'm confused by all the oil pan part numbers out there. I have a '71 with the original F motor. According to toyotapartsdeal.com I need part number 12100-60060 which has been replaced with part 12101-61013. BUT, when I search the newer part number, it seems like that one is for later 2F...

    Flatlander’s 1974 FJ40

Just to add to this, read this thread about the gas strut mod: Gas Struts for rear lift gate on '73 - Where do you fin 'em? Basically, you just buy a regular gas strut, remove all the innards of the stock strut, and slide the gas strut inside the stock one. You may have to trim some of the...

    DIY Electric Power Steering

Yes my '71 has the original column shifter unfortunately... Has anyone been successful installing one of these on a early model? It looks like there's no easy way out for me.

    DIY Electric Power Steering

I really like this. Having a '71, would I run into the same issues as with a mini-truck conversion? I like the simplicity of the e steering with the option of going back to stock easily.

    Rescued 1971 FJ40

Alright so if I understand this right, if the seal is bad then oil will drain from the transfer case to the transmission? I did some searching and a lot people have installed a bypass hose connecting the filler holes so the oil will equalize in the case of a seal failure. Is this a permanent...
