How do you get the alternator out?

I ended up pulling my radiator hoses. Agree, pain in the rear job. My memory is only slightly overshadowed by replacing my starter the month before…

Latest Toyota/Lexus dealer sales and discounts

The cheap one I put on a few years ago was also listed as stainless steel. The resonator is currently detached from the pipe entirely, and there are a bunch of spots clearly on their way out. As much as I want to find something cheaper, I think the custom or OE routes are likely the longer...

Latest Toyota/Lexus dealer sales and discounts

Before I drop $1500 replacing my exhaust - is OE still the way to go, or are there any quality quiet options? I have a cheap aftermarket one on there now and it’s toast after 3y, making the not great type of rumble.

Best current LC 100 headlight options?

A year later, I’m still running these bulbs without issue.

    "Secret" mods.

My most used mod on my 98 continues to be the OEM non-nav stereo with flawless Bluetooth and solid sound from upgraded speakers. Second to this is full sound treatment of all doors and the rear hatch. An LX in LC clothing. Modernizing a Non-Nav Stereo

    In Search of Early VIN's

This is a fun one. My VIN ends in 18077, build date of 6/98. Question for early VIN owners - I realized recently that my LC doesn’t have a AC condenser fan. How well does yours cool when it gets above 95 or so? Mine is ice cold below that and struggles above.

    NAPA Alternator

No, it requires a four pin plug. My three pin plug shattered on removal, so this was realistically the same amount of work. The four pin plugs with pigtails are available on Amazon and other places, but I would have preferred to buy an OE housing to repin. I believe that would be 90980-11964...

    No sub = no good

Before you put all the work into hooking up the anemic subwoofer, consider fully sound treating your doors. After I did mine on my LC, it was clear that the sub was just adding muddy midbass back there. I captured most of my journey here.

    NAPA Alternator

Well, after getting the old alternator pulled, all of my seeping power steering hoses replaced, and my engine bay cleaned up - I discovered that the reman DENSO that I was sent was incorrect. It was 100A and basically everything but the stud mounting location and 4-pin connector was wrong. On...

    NAPA Alternator

Ordered parts to do this last night, will bang it out over the weekend. Thanks for pointing to that thread!

    NAPA Alternator

Odd they would list an 80 amp alt as stock for a ‘98? Partsgeek has the same OE manufacturer (WAI) listed for 99-2002 at 100A, with a better price. https://www.partsgeek.com/wgmr1kx-toyota-land-cruiser-alternator.html?srsltid=AfmBOoqDMF-gsjKRQTB0XaFgruSPKUDXiPNhz6P6pnTKFJmXDuwX5D69

    NAPA Alternator

My parts store alternator just but the dust today, after hanging in there for quite a while with an annoying whine and getting PS fluid dripped on it slowly. While I’m in there fixing both issues, I’m looking at prices for rebuilt DENSO and similar alternators and seeing that NAPA has a line of...

    100 Series HVAC Controller - NAV DELETE - (OEM+)

I think having a continuous dial would be fine, with the light/LED indicating that it has moved to a given position. The choice of knob is then more important - making it look as stock as possible will be important to some, and irrelevant to others. I fall in the former camp. Another random...

    100 Series HVAC Controller - NAV DELETE - (OEM+)

As a person that went out of their way to get a non-nav LC, I can say after a few years of ownership that it’s amazing to have fewer screens in life. I look at screens all day for work and then my “wasted time” at home. If the nav bypass were available as an option, I suspect the price of nav...

    Sound deadening

The biggest lesson I learned from doing my front doors really well is that my windshield trim was poorly installed when I got it replaced, and that wind noise is now the primary noise to address. A focus on doing front doors really well provides 90% of the overall improvement of doing the whole...
