Almost finished the back corner. Forever test fitting to check the tail light alignment. I can see how these rust out so easy with the gaps under the tail light. If it's not sealed well it will collect crap.

Starting from the inner most panel 3 , 4 being the chassis level. D will be cut and bent to duplicate the original

Deeper down the layers, cleaning up as I go. Side my side comparison of the parts I've lost to time and rust

Well I got in there after drilling out the million spot welds

Only small wins today. Got a plan on how to tackle the jigsaw. I'll have to take off the tail light housing to cut behind the main upright. Needs to be stitched in around the 'B' mark whole peice is just gone below body level

And I'm done for the day. I've got some order of how it needs to come out and go back in. 4 layers deep. Going to be interesting doing this while still on the frame.

Few spot welds later and I've got the outer upright cut. Didn't want to have to re align the door mounts if I don't have to. It's quite a heavy peice of steel that's eaten away.

Took the outer skin off to see what my options are underneath. Jackpot, lots of the same panels. Excuse me, I'll be drilling out a million spot welds

My favourite tool at the moment. Best market place deal. Chews disks though. Parts car gladly giving donations.

Shout out to cruiserpilot and his BJ74 rear quarter replacement thread and MrMoMo and his Saving the silver 70. They've been great sources of inspiration on tackling the next parts. Got the wire wheel out to where ever it would fit. I can see what needs to go and what's savable now.

So I made it work. I've got 76 series arches now. Bending and tacking to make it meet as I went and all fitted up okay. Trial fit with the outer skin and fits well. 30mm of fresh metal in. Onto the next sections

Slight difference. Front curve fits like a dream. Top arches out by about a cm and then the rear sweeps more gentle then the reproduction panel. Checked with the old one I cut off and fits the same.

Very happy I've got such a clean result. Onward to the flares. Not much metal left. Scavenged more profile from the 76. Turns out it's a very close fit
