Fair enough. I guess the question is really, “if I have to spend money either way, should I spend it to rehab the backer plates, or to buy the eliminators?”

Hi Mike. The frame has quite a bit of rust that seems worse than just surface rust. Once I get the tub removed I’ll take a wire wheel to some of it and post some pics. Anything in particular you’d like to see?
Stripping what’s left of this 1979 FJ40. Cowl appears to be in pretty solid shape. $200 OBO for that. Most of this will go to scrap if no one is interested. I also have the hood, but it’s not in pristine condition.

Got it all apart and dropped off with my machinist. Waiting to hear how much boring he needs to do in the cylinders before I start hunting for appropriately oversized pistons. I know the oversized domed pistons are extremely rare at this point and may end up having to buy the custom Wisecos.
