Top end? Yes the old inline six is a dog. Low end torque is a different story. Take is offroading sometime and you'll be able to appreciate the 2f a little more.

We have a perkins diesel in our 1970 something New Holland swather and its still running strong as ever. I don't know how you'd put one in a land cruiser though.
