Probably only if you're missing the shims like I am. There are other ways to approximate the shim thickness that you need, or you could just mark the shims that come off and put them back in the same spots. There are a lot of opinions and ideas about this, but most agree that improper shims...

Yep, came out of a '90 62 that had ~280k. Fluid had been changed regularly, and was bright red. No problems with this tranny, just wanted an H55.
