2004 Land Cruiser Gauge Cluster FIXED! How-To

I think I figured this out... There is an over-tightening design here so you can't over torque the bolt pulling the connectors together (which would probably split them). I took the whole thing apart several more times - seems that the screw has limited threads so when you first get engagement...

2004 Land Cruiser Gauge Cluster FIXED! How-To

I just replaced the oil/water temp gauge section and on re-installing am getting no tightening of the 2 screws that hold the connectors in place. I was able to get hands behind them and make sure they were seated correctly. Not sure the issue, seems odd they would either not reach or be...

    No Start Issue

11 hours before leaving on a 2300 mile trip, the rig (ridiculously outfitted) dies. Would crank but no start. I have in 3 years of ownership, I've never had a start issue. I guess it was awesome luck being 1 mile from my work and not in the middle of the Utah desert, but still very...

Ironman 4x4 Bumper - winch install from top w/o bumper removal?

Oh, right... I don't have to pull the inner support, just the bumper shell. That shouldn't be too bad. Thanks for the clarification.

Ironman 4x4 Bumper - winch install from top w/o bumper removal?

It'll probably add about an hour. I mounted the long bolts upside down and then when I went to flip them I lost control of the long tube spacer. Added about 45 min and a lot of dexterity to fish them and set them upright again. Just was hoping to not have to take it all apart again, but it's...

Ironman 4x4 Bumper - winch install from top w/o bumper removal?

I installed my IM bumper and it's great. Next is a winch, and looking at the front grill and space between it and the radiator, I'm wondering if any winch could be installed from the top? Anyone tried, and with what winch?

ARB Cargo Floor Kit with Short Drawer

I set up the back cargo area with a short ARB drawer (slider top) on the left side. For the right side, I built out a divider and riser. Works well, but I'm ready to add the standard size drawer to the right side and the floor kit to trim out the sides and add more storage. I got the trim kit...

    CTEK controller under hood overheating

Ordered Redarc BCDC1225D with mounting bracket and fuses. Thanks for all the input! I'll put the CTEK as charge control for the trailer. One question I put to Redarc also, has anyone used the "Optional LED" listed on the wiring diagram for this controller? It looks like a remote indicator...

    CTEK controller under hood overheating

Great input, thanks! I've got a tech info req to Redarc and if they ok me on a small battery, I'll get moving on the 1225D, mounted forward the radiator. Then I can move the CTEK to the trailer to manage the charging there via solar. I suppose if I upgrade the alternator and run a heavy charge...

    CTEK controller under hood overheating

I am running solar, right now a 100 W portable (Rockpals), and may add a 100 W fixed on the roof. The CTEK works great when parked and adding in the portable angled to the sun. BUT one more thing, the Redarc 1225D lists as suitable for battery banks form 75-200 AH. My little battery is about...

    CTEK controller under hood overheating

LC100 - installed the Slee aux battery bracket, and an X2 Power (around 55ah) battery. CTEK DS250 charge controller. I mostly keep the ARB 50qt fridge running. Issue came up while driving slowly on the beach that the charger was not delivering charge to the battery. We got back on the highway...

Charging GEL Deep Cycle with Ctek Controller at 14.4V

Agreed. Note this is a GEL, not AGM. From my research yes, the AGMs take more voltage, and the GELs seem to be more manufacturer specific. Nothing I see either says this is a safety risk though... I don't think you can blow up a battery by going 0.2 V over the stated charge!
