I’ve got some pictures in this thread that show how a vertical bike rack might be useful: Bike rack with tire swingout? - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/bike-rack-with-tire-swingout.1307979/page-2
I work from the truck often. Drive to the trails, morning shift online, get in a nice lunchtime mountain bike ride, and then finish the afternoon before heading home. I keep a camp chair and table in the truck. WiFi from a 5G hotspot. Power from the Dometic battery that runs my fridge. The...
I haven’t used the assisted strut on the Velocirax, but I find the Alta very easy to use. I suspect my wife would struggle a bit if you had 250lbs of e-bikes needing a push, but she can do it with two adult bikes and a kids bike easy enough. It moves smoothly and you can tune the friction in...
Oh, on my own I’m 100% cheating! But with gremlins along we have one on a Kids Ride Shotgun jump seat and the other will catch a tow rope for big climbs. They’d done every mile of single track in our area by 3 years old on the jump seat!
Love it! I’ve had four heavy e-bikes back there and never catch myself sneaking a peak in the rear view to make sure that things are okay rambling down some rutted out fire road. I went for the De Sanchez model with their new swinger and six trays that I’ve reduced to five for clearance on the...
Caffeine of choice, water, and some snacks in the cool box. Download a couple of favorite Spotify playlists in case you hit cell reception dead zones. Figure out where your wallet and keys will go so that you’re not sitting on them the whole time. The RoadTop CarPlay units that are reviewed in...
This seems a bit … fiddly … compared to a more traditional teardrop like the new Escapod, Bean, etc.
I’m in the market for a small towable in the next couple of years but it’d take some convincing on this one. Where do you mount the mountain bikes!
Edit to add the walkthrough video:
I wonder if one of the upfitters who installs the Maltec camper conversions or similar would have takeoff parts? Someone just built or imported a few of those into the states (I think?).
Nope, not aux. The phone connects to the RoadTop unit via WiFi and Blutooth (the same as for any wireless CarPlay setup). And the RoadTop unit connects to the car via the car’s blutooth. Audio quality is good enough for my purposes.
Only two issues as far as I’ve found. First, sometimes...
Tried the Grom in my 2018. Didn’t care for its integration with the stock electronics. Changed to the Road Top 8” screen mounted on the dash using a Gamiviti plate. I’m loving that solution. I was *this* close to just installing an iPad mini with 5G into that spot.
I’ve got an Alta Racks vertical bike rack that I use for two +50lb e-bikes plus other family bikes for a big outing. It‘s build quality feels high-end, much like the 1Ups that I’ve seen. They also have an option for a small dirt bike/moto rack.
