Update!! My bad as they say. Upon further inspection my eyes were playing tricks on me. Both inlets have the correct cone to seat both lines. So the rears are good to go.
Let me switch gears and ask a different question of the group regarding the Front axle.
Both Front Axle/Forward cylinders...
After a long delay, the resto has resumed on my 1978 Aussie RHD FJ-45. Updated build thread to follow.
Problem/question. Purchased 8 new wheels cylinders and installed in their correct positions. All boxes were clearly marked. Then I realized the Rear axle/left rear position only had one side...
My top is wrapped up in the garage. Haven’t gotten that far in the resto. But it’s been blasted, primed and painted. I’ll take a couple of photos and post Tomorrow. 😉
Speaking of rear hubs…quick question: 1978 FJ45, Full Floating, with the axle nut with the axle seal. Once plate and lock nut are secure according to spec, there’s no mention of a torque on the last nut. Been a while since I pulled this rig apart. Feel like it just snugs against the lock nut...
Hey Craig. I have a 78 Aussie FJ45 and I’ve finally resumed my restoration project. I could use a set in white. Please pm me your p/p info and I’ll get you paid. Thanks in advance,
Ken
Afternoon All. As I re-ignite my 45 Frame-Off resto project, I've decided to let this original piece of the rig go as I'll have no practical use for it. Because it is well made, I thought some of you would get much better use out of it on the backroads.
The Story: I purchased my 1978 Aussie Spec...
Afternoon gang. The 45 resto continues and after several searches I've found very little info on those pesky felt seals in the slip yokes dust covers.
Only solution I saw was a thread where a rubber boot was placed over the driveshaft. Functional but not what I'm looking to do.
Any...
That's the plan! Thanks again for all the input. As a side note the rest of the Zinc plating came out nice. I'm lucky to have found a plating service about an hour and a half drive north here in NJ.
Good Morning @Vintij74, @Bear, @cult45. Thank you for your responses. Great, common sense info all around. This is actually a no-brainer considering the work I've already invested in this rig. Verdict: New Brake lines all around!
Afternoon, looking for opinions on this. Took in all the hardware and had it Zinc Plated. I also took in the Brake Lines, figuring what the hell. Like all the hardware I soaked them in EvapoRust (amazing stuff). I know, they tend to rust from the inside out. My rig came from a dry climate and...
Hey Andrew, beautiful work as always. I'm sure it's somewhere back in the thread but could you give the details on the Valve Cover paint job. It looks perfect and I'm getting close to that point on my restoration. I would think it would look great also on side cover.
Thanks in advance, Ken
