It sounds exactly like a diesel, I'll try to get a sound clip one of these days. I've had people jump in the road right in front of me to yell at me for speeding through the neighborhood, only to realize I'm doing 10 miles an hour and it just sounds like a race car
Forgot to update after I finished the exhaust, but here's the finished product before it was installed.
Painted everything with a high temp enamel, and fiberglass wrapped the down pipes and Y pipe to keep temps as low as possible. It's insanely loud, so once I have time to install my...
I've had a busy last couple weeks, but finally got around to doing some welding today. Not a whole lot to say about it, but hopefully I can get everything to fit together tomorrow.
The Y pipe turned out great, but the downpipes still seem a little bit off. I'll hopefully be able to rework...
As to be expected, my blue glowing dash was interrupted by a single orange light while on a drive last night. It was the first check engine light I have had so far, which I guess is something to be proud of. After immediately pulling over and checking for coolant leaks, I was pleasantly...
Just washed it and geez does it look good :D
I'm currently debating on vinyl wrapping it, we just wrapped a friend's car and it turned out great. Although the paint isn't terrible, a change of color might be nice.
Well back to more coolant leaks...
I was in the store after a short drive, and when I came out I found two small drops of coolant under the front of the truck. I slowly drove back to my house, and dug through the front of the engine looking over the hoses, and ended up just swapping the bypass...
Lucky for me, this truck hasn't needed a whole lot over the last several days. I've just been driving around town so far, but I finally got to test out the 4 low tonight. I'm glad to say the trip went just as expected!
After I got everything mechanically running smooth, I could finally get back to the audio update I had started.
As I previously said, this truck did not have front door speakers, and cutting out the interior door panel to perfectly line up with the hole in the door proved to be extremely...
With everything leak free and good to go, I could finally put some miles on it. When I was cruising around, I hit 300,000!
The trip odometer shows how many miles were on the engine, I'm currently over 400 now. I can't tell you how awesome it is to watch all those zeroes roll over, pretty...
Haven't updated this in a while, but I've been staying really busy with this truck.
To start with, I got the transfer case swapped out, and the new one seems to be doing just fine. Getting it in wasn't too bad, but I did have to remove the transmission support and drop the drivetrain down a...
I sold a 3F bellhousing a few months back, from what I understand you'll need one of those, flywheel, clutch and plate, fork, pedal, cylinder, etc. Should bolt on with little problem.
There's several threads on here about shaving a 3FE head, I can't remember exact numbers, but it's quite a bit. Look into the oversized Chevy valves, it will be less expensive and let the engine breathe better. I went with the Manafre RV cam kit, and so far, it's incredible. Sounds great, and...
