She had a non-rusty start to life. I bought her from the original owner with 186,000 on the clock in Colorado (dry country). She had just had a timing chain service and the dude loved his truck. His wife made him sell it! Once I moved back home to Illinois, I had to constantly monitor oxidation...

You can’t drop a bomb like that without details! My buddy is a diplomat stationed in Kazakhstan right now! Looks like a fun gig.

    Blown Head Gasket?

According to the car care nut, that’s what he sees too. He said he hasn’t seen a single one after ‘14 MY

    Blown Head Gasket?

I think it’s a combination event of aluminum block and cylinder head, with a steel HG that has an incredibly small amount of material between coolant pathways and cylinders. The coolant only needs to get through 3mm of material before having full access to the head.

Thank you, man. I had an open search going for a solid LC or a Lexus LX-570. This one popped up with somewhat higher miles, but impecable 1 owner maintenance. I wanted something we could daily and still get outback with. I feel like a foreign diplomat 🤣

Try to did a search for the part number on 2012 LC200 and then again for 2014.

Just picked up a 2019 LC with 105,000miles on the clock. Just saying hello! Also pictured: my 1986 Toyota 4Runner with 220,000 original miles.

I believe it was just Toyota’s updated specifications for improved durability and performance. Do not know any material or size differences though.

    Blown Head Gasket?

I believe the part number changed from 11115-38020 to 11115-38021 for passenger after 2013. The drivers side stayed consistent with 11116-3801.

Based on that build and the foreign material, looks like she forded quite a few rivers. Toyota changed the HG for 2014 and supposedly there are not any examples of head gaskets getting blown out by the coolant to get into the cylinder. Every example I’ve seen has happened on cylinder 7

    Blown Head Gasket?

Rebuilds on the 3ur-fe with its aluminum block are iffy. If the steel gasket was degraded by old acidic coolant and the engine never overheated, there’s a chance the block and cylinder head didn’t warp….problem is that you can’t machine the block….preventive maintenance is to do a coolant flush...
