    clutch slipping

Sorry for the delayed response. I got called offshore the day I put everything back together. The mystery has been solved. Long story short, the clutch fork was slightly bent. It was difficult to identify without really close inspection. The long story is that I ordered a new fork and...

    clutch slipping

Excellent points. I think there may be a few things happening. After looking at the pictures prior to install and working on it yesterday, I realized the shaft the TO bearing rides on was painted. The paint and or grease build up might be hanging up the complete return of the bearing. I will...

    clutch slipping

All great advice. It is very much appreciated. I will dig around my boneyard to see if I can find any old Toyota forks. The Mud crowd never ceases to amaze me. I will drink on it a little tonight and post what tomorrow brings.

    clutch slipping

Forgot to add that pedal freeplay is about half inch. TO bearing freeplay when fully retracted is a few mm. No freplay when it hangs up.

    clutch slipping

I had the misses press the clutch and saw almost instant movement if the slave piston. She would press the pedal about a half inch before I saw movement on the rod. I pulled the rod and maybe got another 1/16" movement in before it was bottomed out. The rod to fork has a couple millimeters of...

    clutch slipping

Headed back to the house now. Some great insights and questions from all. When I get back will drop front driveline to get to the inspection cover as well as pull slave cylinder to see if I can get any more play from rod nut. Also, will try to get measurement of freeply on clutch pedal...

    clutch slipping

The slave only fully retracts if I pry it back. I have adjusted the pedal height to about 8" and the cap nut on the end of the slave rod is pulled in as far as I could get it. When I open the bleeder with the rod in the not fully retracted position some fluid comes out but the rod does not...

    clutch slipping

Pretty sure it is the 4 speed bell house and fork with the old 3 finger 3 speed clutch. Is there an adjustment for the MC?

    clutch slipping

I am finally finishing up with a 5 year frame off on my 72 FJ40. I swapped to a 4 speed (kept 3 speed xfer) from a 77 with a kit from @marksoffroad. My issue now is the clutch slave cylinder is not returning all way back and the clutch is slipping. I have doubled up the spring to the fork an...

Painful wiring kit question about turn signals

I finally got back to my wiring torture. After consulting multiple wiring diagrams, customer service at Painless, and lots of cussing I went old school. Test light and trial and error. Anyway, I finally got it working 99%. All turn signals, running lights, brake lights, and hazards working...

Painful wiring kit question about turn signals

With everyone's help I think I have it. My new Turn signals had one bullet connector and one ring connector that I had assumed went to ground like the marker lights. I changed the ring connector to a bullet style and Tee'd in with the running lights. Success! Sorry for being a dumb ass and...

Painful wiring kit question about turn signals

I haven't been able to dedicate much time to it but I was able to run a jumper from the side running to the turn signals with the turn signal wires still connected. No dice. The turn signals illuminated with the running lights but would not flash with the turn signal engaged. Hoping to get...
