About to replace all the battery cables on my 97 FZJ80, I have a few questions before I start

I was able to install my pdc cable I had to bend the terminal end like 90 degrees after I had it in the box. I was able to get it in by splitting the fuse box it was a pain that probably wasn’t worth it but if you want to get them all installed that’s what I did!

FZJ80 Failed CO Emissions and Code 25

Welp that eBay guy didn’t do anything but spray paint it and reseal it. Still reads 2000ohms at fully closed when it should be 200-600. I have no clue what to do atp so if anyone finds a in spec afm let me know as otherwise it’s probably getting sold.

Issue is I don’t know what shop in Denver that is and I don’t know if their turn around time is fast enough

Well new afm is bad right out of the box so now I’m outta luck. By chance does anyone have a confirmed good afm they could sell me that’s not farther than hour - hour and a half from Denver?

FZJ80 Failed CO Emissions and Code 25

I’ve had a sister post on rising suns this whole time lol. I just bought an eBay one that ima going to test when I get it to make sure it’s in spec then get my oem one rebuild when I have the time and money as my temp tag will expire in 2 weeks. I know bavrest I’ve talked to them before about...

AFM is bad! Adding to the parts list. The afm ranges from 1200ohm > 1500 > 1180 fully shut > while opening max ohm > fully open. FSM calls for 200-600 fully closed and 20-1200 fully open This along with the fuel stuff and I have hope this next time I might actually pass :)

FZJ80 Failed CO Emissions and Code 25

Okay so as I was poking through the FSM again I found this which supports everyone’s assumptions for injectors, tps, or afm. So I ignored what I said previous about not shotgunning more parts and decided to buy a new tps, fuel filter, and fuel pressure regulator along with injector seals and...

FZJ80 Failed CO Emissions and Code 25

Checked the timing today when I readjusted the tps and it’s at 3 BTDC as it has been. I did remove the distributor for the o ring however I took a picture before of where the rotor was when it was at tdc and matched it up. When you tested your tps how did you know it was failing? I was able to...

Yeah it does just the D light is out like most

FZJ80 Failed CO Emissions and Code 25

Well just got done adjusting the tps and it made no difference to my idle so doubt that was a major contributor to emissions. Might just send it to a shop at this point unless anyone has a solid lead as I don’t have time nor the money to keep shotgunning parts only to make it worse

FZJ80 Failed CO Emissions and Code 25

After the ecu got used to these oem sensors the low idle came back in full force but at least not it doesn't shake and feel like stalling so this is really helpful! I've already replaced all but 2 of the vacuum lines under the intake manifold when I had the throttle body out to clean it the...

Yeah I set the timing a few tests ago and checked it before this one. The cats were replaced in Utah in November of 2020 so they’re likely non carb compliant so that’s why I’m assuming it’s just time to just get cats installed

FZJ80 Failed CO Emissions and Code 25

Okay well now I’m just confused. It got better than the purple one but it’s still worse than the yellow one. Also I noticed they turned overdrive off when testing it would that cause it to have more emissions due to higher rpm or is it negligible? O2 sensors helped the idle a lot but still feels...

About to replace all the battery cables on my 97 FZJ80, I have a few questions before I start

I completely forgot when I got everything finalized to come back here and give my final report! You DO have to keep some of the fusible link or else headlights and most of efi stuff doesn’t get power. The wires you have to keep connected are the red one and the blue one.

I tested the cats with a heat gun after that most recent fail and it was about exactly 100 degrees hotter out of the back then exhaust going into the cats
