    Hazard light circuit wiring tip

Actually, no. I am stuck on some gremlins that have screwed up the lighting, so I'm seriously considering enlisting a professional. Pretty frustrating, but not the fault of anyone's advice here. I screwed up somewhere: I'm thinking it's a problem in the column wiring.

    Hazard light circuit wiring tip

Got it - so I need to pull out the stock flashers on the fuse box that come with the kit, install the jumpers, and that will bypass the Kwikwire flasher function and allow the original wiring to work as it should with an inline Toyota flasher. Thanks so much for the clarity - makes sense, and I...

    Hazard light circuit wiring tip

Hey @Vandal FJ which aftermarket switch did you end up using? I am installing a Kwikwire kit on a '73 FJ40, with a '78 (I think) hazard switch, so the wiring diagrams aren't exactly compatible. Almost ready to give up on making it work, because I'm not that worried about appearances TBH. And I...

    HELP - 1969 FJ40 rewire with Kwikwire

Hey @Peddyk one more question for you: do you recall how you bypassed the stock flashers that came with the Kwikwire harness? I assume you wired in the original flasher switch - which hot wire and which ignition wire did you use?

Need help with turn signal wiring.

Fair. It's a '73 FJ40 and some of the original parts have been replaced (obviously). The dimmer makes sense, given the Kwikwire harness configuration. Thanks!

Can anyone help with mapping this switch☝️

Need help with turn signal wiring.

I'm hoping to get some feedback / validation on an aftermarket turn signal switch wiring problem I have. Long story short, I had to tear out a bad wiring job and start over with a new Kwikwire harness. It's going OK, but the column assembly isn't wired with the common wire colors and I'm trying...

    HELP - 1969 FJ40 rewire with Kwikwire

Sorry to bump and old thread, but @Peddyk were you able to figure out how to properly account for the Voltage regulator? I have the same kit as you bought/installed, and I want to ensure I'm getting it right. Thanks~

Engine won't shut off unless headlights are turned off

I have a 'restored' 1973 FJ40 that I bought while I was living in Costa Rica. Drove it for about 8 months, then I turned it over to a local restoration guy who had it for about a year. I moved back just before it was completed, and I had it sent to me in the US. Arrive this past fall. I'm mostly...

How bad did I %*&! up?

Thanks - I bench-tested the starter and it's good, so I'm going to trace back through the harness today to see if I can find a source for the break. What did you use for a remote starter?

How bad did I %*&! up?

The wiring is all new, battery is new, cables are new, ground wire seems solid. I'm going to pull the starter and see if I can get it to engage, but with a new relay and a rebuilt starter I am now wondering if it's something in the wiring from ignition > relay > starter.

How bad did I %*&! up?

Thank you - weird thing is that I recently had the starter motor rebuilt, and replaced the replay switch. It was working OK but now it's acting up again. I can't seem to nail down the issue.

How bad did I %*&! up?

I just did some furious googling and it looks like that is indeed possible. It *appears* that as long as it doesn't run long enough in that state to get oil bubbles in the pan and throw a rod, it should be not that damaging for a short period. I estimate I drove it in 1st gear position ( but in...
