Hi Matt, I think it's time to put a fresh regulator in my 2/77 , but the plug is different. I don't think that'll be a very big problem to overcome though. You still got these?
Not necessarily. Just removing the Fairey off the back of the transfer case is your first and cheapest option. Lots of people drive their cruisers with the original gearing. They weren't designed for highway driving, especially now, with everybody doing 75 or 80 mph. The most economical thing...
The Fairey for the LC had some unfortunate design deficiencies, and there are no parts being produced. The shaft splines that wear out also wear out the splines on the trans tailshaft, but a overdrive delete doesn't require replacing the shaft. When they work, they're great, but sadly when...
Thanks for your reply, Mark. The drive collar (barrel) engages the end of the trans tail shaft, but only goes apprx a half inch onto the splines, which was ridiculous, and eventually wears the splines on both the shaft and collar (especially when the "special lock system" comes loose. Other...
Good on ya Mark! . Maybe Franksy4 can have a better chance of finding them going that route. It sure didn't occur to me. Too bad there are probably no other sources for the drive collars. Hope you're enjoying time off in a cool place.
I have some Fairey stuff stored at another place, but it's a few hundred miles away. I could have one or two but not sure. I'll check next time I go there.
Is your drive spline collar part in good shape? (the one that fits onto the trans output shaft). That's the part that's a bugger. They always wear out the splines. The keys you could fab up if you had to. The drive collar not so much.
