Doug89

Got into wheeling in 1986 when was 16 and could replace a head gasket on a early CJ5. It wasn't mine. Got my 74' FJ40 in 89' as an abandoned vehicle. First time on the Rubicon in 96' as a member of Mountain Transit Authority of San Jose, California. My 40 went through all stages of condition and wheeling capabilities. Schooling in what works and what doesn't on FJ40s began at Soda Canyon when my friendship with Butch and Sharon Lewis began in 95'. Some of my early introductions came through Placerville back in the late 80s' as well. I'm a trained machinist with a 20 year career behind me, who has also only driven old cars. Restorations are what I do now. Mechanics are secondary me. I have an attention to detail and was trained to finish. My first job was in an auto body shop. I was priveleged to have been welcomed into a shop and witness a true fabricator work his craft. I am currently a member of TLCA and have been since 1992, number 3708.This is my passion and have been successful at it now at OK Tire Store since 2011.
