Builds 1978 US Market FJ40 Factory Restoration

Hello @greenEFSI - I used Eastwood Hi-Temp coating (non aerosol), and it has held up very well. I have had the engine to temp several times now and the heat helps the paint cure (as part of the application process/instructions). I am always skeptical of rattle cans, but this eastwood product...

Crazy seeing all of this re-smog work and where you are at. I ran through (in detail) each component of the 78 smog/vacuum system. A lot of work, but very satisfying. I had serious issues removing the air injection plugs: Builds - 1978 US Market FJ40 Factory Restoration -...

Yes - I'm leaning towards the carid "Walker" heavy duty version. My downpipe is 2.5" and that muffler is a 3"in/out. It doesn't look like they sell a 2 or 2.5" version of the heavy duty round. I can work around that, but would be nice to find a 2 or 2.5".

@topnault I've left a couple of messages through your chat service. I'm assuming you've been busy wrapping up SEMA, etc.. so I'll be patient. Regarding exhaust, I'm thinking about giving this a try (has anyone else?)...

I have a lead on a hood in Pennsylvania - but it's out in Pittsburgh. I'm looking to see if someone is traveling from Pitts to Philly in the next week or two, as I'll be in Philly on the 18/19th of November. (I posted on MudShip). Fingers crossed, but worse case I'll just have to make the 10...

Looking to move an FJ40 hood. Please send a message if you’re headed that way! Thank you!

Ian - I appreciate it!! I agree completely - and my wife even mentioned the same thing - that I've worked so hard on this thing to get it all correct, why not go the extra mile with the hood? I'll keep my eye out - problem is hoods are incredibly difficult to ship!

I put this information in an updated chat yesterday evening. @topnault you have my name, order number (1107) and likely chat history when I provided the initial information and pictures and was told "Tim has agreed to provide you with a 10% discount." This was a week ago, I tried to chat with...

Builds 1978 US Market FJ40 Factory Restoration

Purchased a @topnault hood because mine requires quite a bit of hours. I wanted to see them side by side and see how the fit was. Good: It is a hood. Seems to have great primer and is heavy duty steel. Bad: There is only one packing cushion on the bottom (rear of the hood/cowl side). This...

    Radio Tech

Generally speaking, starting in 1973 radios were either A) Factory/Port equipped National (PIO (port installed options) sticker in the glove box indicated) or B) Fujitsu Ten dealership installed. @SteveH above has the correct "Dealer-Installed" Fujitsu Ten 08600-00014 for a mid 70's FJ40. The...

    Another EDIC question...

Do you not have the Fuel Control Relay (EDIC Relay) still bolted to the firewall, inside the cab? If you do, test that unit and then just get the missing pieces (armature, etc.) to get it correct so that when you turn the car off, its automatically shut off. While I agree the "easiest"...

    Radio Tech

The community needs the knobs (I know there are some 3D printed options out there, but they're not close enough in my opinion) as well as the above face plate with the option, "TUNER". TUNE was for the later National radio 79-8X and frequency began at 53. The earlier National radios (75-78) had...
