so far so good. I finally buttoned up a few more things and got it out into the fall colors -- I found next weekend's camp spot ... alignment on Monday and then I put the skids back on and she'll be ready for the snow.

Engine is in. I drove about 80 miles around town before heading the 1000 back up to CO. The trip was uneventful which was the best outcome. Thanks so much to @aljollano and his crew of Toyota whisperers for getting me back up and running.

I finally replaced my non-working speedometer cable so a) I can view my speed and b) the miles are accumulating again. And replaced the steering tie rods and removed an OLD dampener that now I know did nothing. Took me 2 days to un-seize the ball joints and a few bolts ...

My speedo hasn't worked for a bit and I'm finally replacing the cable. I had to remove the speedo gear from the tcase to get room to unscrew the seized cable. I am trying to re-install and simply can't get that gear to go back into the case. Do I need more patience and just find the perfect...

I found a 2008 with 130k miles and going to swap the engine. it was running when pulled. fingers crossed.

I put a bit of copper sealant around the vacuum leak in the intake (pic a few posts up) and it's been good for the past week with ~100 miles on the truck. I suspect this is temporary but it's driving better than ever at this point.

I keep hoping for it to fix itself but it looks like I will finally get a few minutes to work on it tomorrow evening.

I finally put a stethoscope to locate the whistling and the remflex gasket is not 100% sealed right in the middle of the intake at the manifold. I may try tightening those bolts and checking torque. I did put a new adpater plate and normal vacuum went from 16 to 18-19 with no other changes so I...

Are you 100% sure the leafs are installed in the right direction? I have 2.5 lift from redline and the center pin is not centered in the leaf pack. The longer side goes towards the end of the vehicle. Tips on installing the 2.5 Ultimate Lift Kit on FJ40 Land Cruiser -...
