    RM183E alternative

    Awesome thanks everyone. I won’t buy anything until I get a vehicle. Good advice. Nice to know there is something out there. Thanks for sharing the link as well @Rigster

    RM183E alternative

    seeing as how the 183e is hard to find, has anyone looked at or used this alternative? It looks like an alternative anyway. I don’t even have a vehicle yet but looking into the future. This one is by Max Ellery. Number EP.TO18.

    @OGBeno i think I’m slowly realizing that. When I say truck I mean a HZJ73 not a physical truck like the pickup truck version. I don’t know if that makes a difference but thought I should make it clear

    It’s a good question @fireball i was thinking around 40k CAD which is about 30k USD. That’s not a solid number. There is room to move if there is something worth it.

    Thanks @2fpower , if I ever get to that point I’ll keep you in mind! Thanks @joekatana for the mileage info. I guess I want low but not too low depending on age. Very confusing. I hope people will continue giving me their thoughts on vehicles I post while on the search. Thanks again @Sundowner...

    Wow ok @joekatana thats good to know. I should definitely stick with a HZJ73. Probably more leg room than the shorter 70. Maybe I need to re evaluate this. I was thinking under 100,000km would be low mileage. Nothing under 50,000 those are out of my range. Thanks again for all the great tips.

    @Tennessee Jed thats probably some of the best advice yet. It’s easy to get excited over pictures that may or may not be real. I am working with an importer so if I do see one I’m serious about, someone will go check it out.

    Thanks @FJBen it was the two tone brown and white that caught my eye. I really like the look of the SWB but the MWB is nice too. I’m 6’2” tall so the room inside is maybe something I should think about. Only my son will be in the back seat so he would be fine back there. The non removable top is...

    Just found what looks to be a great example. It’s got the pzj motor but from my research on here that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Maybe harder to find certain parts? Here are a few photos for your thoughts.

    @Guyute in scanning the jdm auction sites it looks like many of the 70s have the roll bar and seat belts. I’m just looking at the shorter wheel base ones but it looks like in late 1980’s they added them.

    @Sundowner haha well that makes me feel better about a cruiser. I enjoyed the defender loads but couldn’t spend all that time working on it. It was in good shape and had very little rust but it was all the other stuff. I don’t regret it but I won’t have another one. I had a Triumph TR6 that was...

    Here is a link to what I think is really nice. Almost too nice. Import used TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 70 1992 for sale - SBT Global Car exporters - https://www.sbtjapan.com/dealers-cars/toyota/land-cruiser-70/DZJ5443/

    @Sundowner that’s definitely my preference. A HZJ73

    And yes I agree it would be a good idea to have another car. I had my wife’s wheels to use when the Defender was out of commission. I’m thinking that a Cruiser will be more reliable than a Defender but maybe that’s just wishful thinking. I’ll have my wife’s car again if the cruiser goes tits up.
