Thanks for your help everyone. I'm unable to get at one of the bolts holding the mounting bracket on and the bolt holding the arm in is stripped. It's looking like I'm gonna spend another night here before taking it into a real life mechanic tomorrow.
At least I can tell him that I know what...
The main arm, the one running the length from the firewall to the carb, is completely frozen.
The mountings all look fine, the firewall mount plates all look like they're in good shape for the linkages though I haven't looked at the motor frame I would expect to see warping or damage on the...
I'm 200 miles from home, hauling a trailer and havin a great time when suddenly while pressing the gas the pedal locks out at the floor and won't budge. Strange thing is that instead of going full blast the carb is sitting at about 1400RPM worth of fuel flow. I pull off in a little town called...
So basically since I've got her tuned to idle without the VA I should expect to need a 13-16 degree shift even further back from before top dead center? I'll keep that in mind.
I've recently had a Weber 32/36 progressive put on my 2F engine and I'm looking for some help with getting the vacuum advance hooked up on my distributor. Because I'm running without vac advance I kill the engine if I try and punch it at all. I don't punch often but it'd be nice to have that up...
So the PCV lines are all attached and vac seems good. I noticed the bowl in the carb is now 4/4 on fuel level: Totally full. I think my float may be busted.
Is it best to just buy a new one or can I just pull it out and re-seal it with some goop?
Ooh I should definitely check the PCV. I hadn't looked back there.
As for vac maybe. I don't know though. Given that the entire system was just reassembled I could definitely see that as being the case.
I just got my baby back from a full engine rebuild and drove her home. When I picked her up and test drove her she purred, idled great and ran smooth as butter. I drove her home, about 40 minutes, and suddenly I'm getting a loud gurgling sound whenever I hit the gas. It barely manages to idle...
Hahaha I expect you did. I don't want to run the engine til she seizes so I'm investigating the possibility of it being a head gasket pretty intently right now.
Thanks for your help. I'd already looked at some google results. I was hoping to see if anyone has some specific experience with them, especially if any of those shops had experience with machining a 2f for rebuild. I've poked around and haven't found much.
Cool. I know compression was low on 1 cyl when I bought it, still above 100 but lower than the other 5. I need to get a tester and run one myself still.
Does it make a difference having the hose hooked up to that connection or not? I thought that connection was just a straight hole through to the air intake... though I haven't looked in the intake in a few months so my memory could be as foggy as that exhaust.
Before coming back inside I hooked...
