So, I assume that if you life the boot on the park brake, there should be an adjustment nut to take up slack in the stretched cable. It could also be where the intermediate and the rear brake cables join.
Well, one only stripped when i was installing the new screw and washer. The other one didn't really strip, the weldnut basically broke, so I just pulled it up. A bit of a bigger hole, but I sanded down a bit, patched it with a couple layers of foil tape for now.
The sunroof on my '97 opens and closes just fine. No scratches on the glass. I'd use the 12mm. Note that my sealing washers are just galvanized, they didn't have stainless around. I did put a dab of silicone under those, and also around the threads as I snugged them up. I used impact wrench...
Removed my rack today. Had two nuts spin on me... But, here's some pics to help out... This is a bit of a temp fix until I decide if I wanna do a paint job.
Also a mechanical engineer here. I did attempt to source an oem hoodliner. Not available, or the cost is benefit didn't warrant it. Therefore, took a look at the construction, and made something reasonable. OEM makes sense sometimes. But an ABS clip? Your mileage may very, but I'll take the...
The oem liner also has a foil backing. It's just reversed (contacts the hood). The fiberglass matting faces the engine, which possibly helps extinguish an engine fire. This stuff would possibly do the same when the clips melt, which is why I didn't pull the adhesive backing.
Which makes me...
I did look through a bunch of threads, and that is one of the proposed functions for the liner. Without actually seeing the engineers fmea, I am not sure. I do know I don't want to be the one putting my hand on the hood without something there after a couple hours of driving.
