Resurrecting this thread - I recently put Sta-Lube GL-4 in my '82 ROW gear box - I don't know what the previous owner used, but he wasn't particularly diligent about regular maintenance.... the shifting got a bit worse... more notchy and less smooth. Other recommendations that have worked...

This is interesting... how does one check brake booster function to ensure no valve burnout? (I presume they just burn out because a bad booster leaks air to the intake side, causes the mixture to go lean and get too hot)....

Interesting. It has what looks like a 3 piece design, but it's a South America car, no emissions, etc. I don't even have a flapper in mine. It's just the manifold going to the exhaust pipe, nothing more complicated than this. Roger on the tip for keeping it loose... thanks! J
