Will definitely try the rag approach. I’ll remove and clean all the hoses near the fuel fill. re your comment about backfires. It only happens right before it quits. Usually two quick shots. So I’m betting the pressure issue is suddenly making it run rich just before it sputters and dies.

I think the issue is to much pressure. I popped the fuel cap, reinstalled and she fired right about at 3/4 full. Running great. Could it be something in here?

ASFAIK, the smog gear is all still hooked up properly. Sight glass is a bit less than half full. The carb jet spray is strong so I don’t think it’s the fuel pump or filter. Changed fuel cap but same issue quitting at 3/4 full.

How would you go about troubleshooting such a theory?

Carb has already been rebuilt. I have inspected the fuel tank and it's spotless. My next step is to test the fuel pump. I suspect that is the culprit. I've been so busy with work and since the rig is 40 minutes north of me, I haven't been driving her much. Maybe fuel filter from bad gas??

I live downtown in East Village, but I keep my rig in my folks garage in Carlsbad. I appreciate the willingness to help.

That's excellent and I'll definitely take you up on it. I'm not getting any fuel into my Aisan carb and I can't figure out why. Going to pull the hoses to see if the pump has failed or if there is a blockage somewhere. I also need to re-route my fuel lines as I had several vapor lock events...

Sorry to hijack. Do the OEM fuel pumps make some kind of priming noise when you turn the key on but not turn over? I’m not hearing that buzzing noise and there is no fuel in carb window. ‘76 w/2F Aisin.
