On my fj40 1979
Will I have to cut the crossmember under the transmission to fit everything back in?
I saw a neat setup in speedway motors to build one if I need to?
When you used the the snap ring pliers are you footing the od unit out the back just a bit to get the ring on and then tightening the od unit up to the transfer case?
I was just test fitting it that seems to work?
I built an installing tool using 2" IDx2"od exhaust fitting
Then 2.25 od exhaust fitting for the slide
Lots of grinding
I'm going to try using a lathe to see if I can make it better
Mine should work but it's really backward
thanks the retaining clip is the big one on the main input gear and the tool for that it is a two piece one one holds the clip in place then you slide od unit in the transfer case then slide the outer part of the tool in and push the clip on the shaft and hold the gear in place.
Does anyone know where I can find the installing tool for the Fairey overdrive, or the dimensions to build one?
and does anyone have a part number for the retainer cilp?
Mark, thanks for your help I have the right transfer case now, do you have a number for the retainer clip for the overdrive, and where i could find the install tool or sizes to build one, I have one I have built and have not used it yet just looking
