Hey Mudders, I've got a problem. The universal joint on my 80 is cracked, and I need a shop to replace and balance it. I usually take my money to ACC, but with them usually being booked for months out and a little farther away I wanted to reach out to the locals and see if y'all had any...
Does a string and washer work when the arm is off the truck already? I thought you needed to measure how the truck sits naturally?
Does the Wit's End template define an absolute angle of the bushings?
I dropped the bushings that came with an OME 2.5 lift kit off at a local lift shop this morning along with the Slee instructions and 2 spare control arms my friend gave me. They just called an hour ago saying they can push the bushings but have no way of ensuring that they are the correct angle...
Check again! I emailed them when they said they were out of stock, and the set up the shopping cart for preorders. Sure I might not get mine until July, but at least I got the discount.
I've never seen a 2.5" OME lift over $1000. If you have a lot of extra weight on it (like armor and camping supplies) or its a purely offroading/camping vehicle I'd go with the heavy springs.
The only downside to ACC is that because they are the highest recommended shop, they are always super busy. I've never seen more than 3 open spots in front of their shop and all their bays are usually full. Unless it is a dire emergency I wouldn't trust anyone else though.
My dad and I ran into issues with the slides as well, we did not find the guide holes until later steps and had to back track. They are very small, possibly still appear to be sealed.
The aluminum slides with red are supposed to be rounded, I definitely noticed rounded front edges (the ends...
Got a steal on a BIO Front Bumper and 9.5 winch from craigslist up in Asheville, NC. 3.5 hours there and back and $700 bucks later, the 80 has a new front bumper!
I have no complaints about the Landshark Drawers I bought from a Dave here on MUD. Peanuts compared to everyone else, and can be assembled in a few hours. He runs a group buy every few weeks.
Have you driven around with anything on top of the carpet yet?
I am looking at covering mine to help prevent gear/bags/groceries from sliding around; leaning towards the rubber matting for the friction.
