I've done a similar route but instead of heading west I went N N/W out of Pony on Pony Creek Road and it ties back in to Cataract Creek 938 about midway, I know the tree that you are referring to, it's a bit tight but a spotter makes all the difference.

Just installed 4:56 gears, ready for season to begin. I should have done this years ago :cool:

Here's a couple of photographs, they aren't the nastiest sidewalls on the market but for an AT tire they probably are.

@rc51kid I have the Baja Boss A/T tires on my 2011 FJ and I really like them so far, didn't get to drive them much in the winter but what little I did they were awesome. I've been in some pretty gnarly stuff off-road this summer and at 18 psi they bite super hard, the side lugs really dig in...

Just enjoying the Tobacco Root Mountain range.

I personally just installed the Aluma 2.5 series but have not taking The FJ off-road to test them out, but I can tell you the build quality is very impressive and the attention to detail is second to none. I also like these because they are rebuildable. I'll get you an update in a few months...

I personally don't but my son in law had them on his 2dr Jeep and really liked them and did well with them. Looking at the tread I would say that there are better tires suited for snowy (hard pack) road conditions, but personally I would deal with that for the limited amount of time I spend on...

Take a look at these and research reviews and forums online, I think they will do everything that you want them to do quite well, and not noisy on the pavement this is what I will be going with when my Goodyear Duratrax bite the dust here shortly...
