Thanks for that!!!
I’ve actually just gotten a handful of recommendations for Destin Imports (oddly enough they seem to be almost next door to each other) but no one with an actual older LC. So this is huge.
Many thanks! I’ll give them a shout tomorrow morning.
Tried to separate the PB1 connector, no dice. Pretty sure if I push or pull too hard in the wrong direction, the 30 year old plastic won’t survive. Anyone know how this tab releases?
All I can find is this - the. Black and pink wires on the link have 12v, the blue reads zero volts.
The problem is - that tells me nothing that I don’t already know. Any ideas?
I’m having what sounds like a similar issue. Any chance you can explain what you mean by the B+ terminal having continuity with the body of the alternator? After the fusible link smoked, did you have a CEL or no?
I’m trying to find a replication of my issues and a fix. This one sounds like the...
Okay, I’ve spent several days searching through threads on any similar issues.
One that’s interesting is to check the voltage draws before installing a new fusible link after smoking one.
Someone talk to me like I’m 5 years old and tell me how anything would draw voltage with a disconnected...
Awesome!
I’m hoping that since this seems to be just an electrical glitch that I can avoid it for this one - the 6 hour tow, airline ride to pick it up, and probably 7-8 hours back with the ‘ol 3FE 😂
Gonna call a local import specialist mechanic today that’s local. See if I can get over the no...
Gave it a shot, mostly seems dead. Tried Facebook, the only recommendation was to try a different 3FE group. Not sure if any will be local. We’ll see.
Anyone know for sure which tab to depress or lift to disconnect the EB1 connector? 30 year old heat treated plastic tends to break if you guess...
Bump to the thread. I’m also in the Ft Walton Beach area and while I’m good with most anything mechanical, electrical is a no-go for me. Anyone have a lead or idea?
Okay, another possible.
The new alternator has three studs/nuts on the back. From the box, it appeared readily apparent which one was the ground, is it possible it’s one of the others and this is the issue?
There’s a grand total of 1 YouTube vids with a an FJ80 alternator change - and it’s...
