How to lock rear axle if actuator is dead

Hey all, have a new rear locker actuator to fit to my ‘95 LC as the old one is toast. Am just wondering what the procedure is to get the rear axle locked with a dead actuator. I presume get everything undone and, with a thick screwdriver or small pry bar move the lever inside the diff that the...

Just so I’m clear on greasing the knuckles...

I’ve done quite a bit of reading on this topic and I know it is nothing complex but before I attend to this check, I’m curious if anyone can please confirm that wheel bearing grease is not suitable to use in the steering knuckles. I have a grease gun with a cylindrical cartridge of EP grease...

‘95 LC where is oil pressure sending unit located?

Just to update the thread; neither the power or ground connectors came off the sending unit but the unit itself was incredibly rusty and the connectors were the same. Fortunately, I had purchased a new sending unit so I swapped it out and cleaned all the connectors real thoroughly with sandpaper...

‘95 LC where is oil pressure sending unit located?

Gracias. I was looking on the same side where the oil filter is figuring it was over there. No wonder I couldn’t spot it LOL

‘95 LC where is oil pressure sending unit located?

Good morning all, The oil pressure gauge on my 95 Land Cruiser is always pegged and I’m assuming that perhaps the connector has fallen off and is grounding. With that said, I have had no success actually finding the location of the sending unit itself to investigate, can anyone advise...

Changing front and rear diff oils with truck up on lift

Hi all, Wondering if anyone can shed some light on whether these trucks need to be sitting on their wheels or if the differential fluids can be drained and accurately refilled with the truck up in the air on a two post lift. I have the truck up in the air as we speak and I noticed that the...

Replaced ‘97 LX with ‘95 LC. Anyone’s former rig?

Hey gents, After having first sold off my ‘97 LC then ‘97 locked LX to a buddy, the itch got me again so I wound up with a dark green over tan triple locked ‘95 that appears to have been mildly modded by a prior owner. It has a Warn winch up front, Slee front bumper, OME steering dampener and...

Stumped on a noise from LR wheel area on LX450

Well, to add an update to the thread, I removed both rear wheels and noticed that if I grab the caliper on the LR wheel and try to “rock” it, it has some movement as opposed to the RR caliper so maybe the bracket or pins are worn/ovaled and causing play. Will report back more with what I find...

Stumped on a noise from LR wheel area on LX450

Thanks. Parking brake was not set. I did verify plenty of clearance between the wheel weight and the caliper.

Stumped on a noise from LR wheel area on LX450

Hey all, So last Saturday I spent some good time with my 80, continuing on through sorting various items out. Finally got to the end of my [rather lengthy] list and a noise has now cropped up which has me, at least, temporarily scratching my head. Only in forward driving, not in reverse...
