Exhaust was pretty easy to route. I deleted the catalytic convertor pre maturely and I think it was unnecessary, so you may have to do things a little different, but I routed the exhaust straight back from the flange and under my cross member. After the cross member straight to the muffler and...
Hey! Sorry for the late response. I haven't been on here in ages..
I had a few issues with mine even as high and to the drivers side as I put it. Mainly, you're probably going to have issues with your front drive shaft coming close to your oil pan. I have a bunch of stuff on my build page on...
Hard to say. I haven't gotten it up to 70/80 mph since it's been fixed. Just around 65 or so. It does seem quieter though, maybe because the engine's not working as hard as the tranny runs smooth?
Finally... Transmission is fixed, eBrake installed, and shims in to correct caster. The Ebrake was a HUGE pain. The only thing that could get those Cadillac El Dorado disc to engage was an electric frame mounted brake. I wish so badly I would have done more research into the brake mounted behind...
Nice. I ask because if I could go back I'd probably put 3.70 in the diffs. As it is right now, during city driving, I don't use 1st at all. The gear is just way too high so I start in 2nd. It'll probably help alot that you're using 35 inch tires. Mine are only 33s. Also, if you plan on rock...
Hey Kleatus,
I finally got off my ass and brought the truck into a transmission shop a week ago. Turns out I had failed to properly seal a hole from the tcase to the adapter from AA. So the oil in the trans was leaking into the tcase and running dry. I had a "welded" synchro, a destroyed input...
Haha I don't think so! Everyone I talked to including two mechanics (one that specializes in manual transmissions) said it was fine.
I'm guessing it was something pre existing. I'm just praying it doesn't have anything to do with my build. The angles I laid everything in at, driveshaft...
Hey Steve! Sorry I must have missed this before. I think it's that a diesel engine flywheel does not have a constant angular velocity. So as it cycles it puts high and then low torque on the dampener springs. So a clutch disc built for a gas engine will rattle as the springs compress and...
Yeah it came in good condition, still had a mechanic rebuild it just to be safe.
- Had a mechanic remove it because of the clutch rattle noise
- Then removed it again, myself this time, because I thought I might be able to find a proper clutch disc
- Had a mechanic remove it again because it...
