    No Spark after Coil

Thank everyone. Finally found the problem. Basically 2: 1. Not proper insulation between the negative coil and the distributor case. 2. The battery was probably not too strong. Anyways is alive again but not out of intensive care yet.

    No Spark after Coil

You are absolutely right. I'm making the same mistake all over but can't see where. I did what you clearly explained to me, but I can't get a spark. I did it with 3 different coils and can't get the spark. Can be that these 3 coils are all broken? Turning on an engine on the floor is supposed...

    No Spark after Coil

I want to thank everyone for helping and giving me so much advice. Definitively I can't figure out: I did try to get a spark from the coil as explained before but zero spark. Several things: 1. The coils I have used, need an external ballast resistor (I guess they are 6v) but no marks are saying...

what you mean is to check the insulation between the distributor housing and the screw where the -coil is attached, is in good condition??

    No Spark after Coil

The igniter was broken before all this “mess” and the car was running. I’m attaching a diagram of how I’m wiring it now. I decide to use the switch. Is something wrong in this way of doing it? If not I guess there is a broken component but now sure how to troubleshoot it.

Yes it does have an igniter but mine is not working and even a second hand a quite expensive. Can I ground the - coil to the - battery and bring the Center wire close to engine block. I’m doing this but can’t get the spark using 3 different coils. I have use two different Center wires, could be...

    No Spark after Coil

Mark. Thank you again. I'm going to try to elaborate a little more. Right now I have removed the body of the car and all the wiring. I just have the frame and engine. I'm trying to turn on the engine to be able to work on it while the body is being painted etc. Although the car was working...

How do you wire at coil? Maybe I have the same problem. Do you have a picture by chance? Thanks

I have exactly the same problem. Weeks trying to sort it out: new everything. No spark from coil wire to distributor to negative at frame. obviously no sparks at the spark plugs. Not sure what else to look at in order to troubleshoot this issue

    No Spark after Coil

Good afternoon. I recently got for restoration a 1977 FJ40 2f. I decide to take the body out to repaint the frame etc. I did also remove the wiring. Now I'm trying to turn on the engine directly from the starter but it will not start. I can not get any spark from the coil into the distributor...
