Yes, good point Matt. Mark has just contacted me through my 'Aisan Carb' thread so I will get his assessment on the carb and his thoughts on the HEI versus OEM distributor. Thanks for your input.

I guess the moral of the story Mark is to NEVER say NEVER..lol.!! I look forward to your call and then we can discuss a distributor option for my Columbian 'Frankencruiser'. I have another thread under 'distributor' with pictures of my existing HEI if you can take a look.

Yes, there are many issues with this distributor, that being one of them. After considering the input I have received, I believe the best option is not a rebuild but a replacement (HEI or OEM) with this one heading for 'retirement'..!!

Thanks Ryan. After searching DUI as you instructed, it looks like I have some version of an HEI distributor. It looks pretty old and worn and I cannot find any markings except the ones I posted in the pictures. A manufacturers name would have been very helpful but alas.!! Therefore it looks like...

Yes it does produce a spark. I wiped the worst of the oil that had pooled in the housing.

All good input, thank you. I have seen the Aisan OEM and Aisan 'clones' on the City Racer website and heard about Mark being the Carb 'Guru' but apparently he is somewhat difficult to get a hold of. I think I'll take your advice, leave a message for Mark and see if I get a call back.
