    80 series towing questions

Wow the replies in here, didn't think I'd get this much attention on this topic, based on what I've seen with everyone in here having their own experiences, with a well maintained LC and away from steep grades and not going long distances everything tuned in it wouldn't be preferable, but also...

    80 series towing questions

So realistically, upgrading and updating the cruisers brake system, and making sure I have a good working controller and good working trailer brakes are the main concern from what I'm reading. Correct?

Trailer brakes have been working great, they definitely stop my dually more so than my dually stopping them.

    80 series towing questions

I think Pete's idea of it being from the wanted sag of the rear for the stock brake setup, if that's removed and bypassed though the truck wouldn't require the sag anymore. Itd all test n theory for now, if someone came in here right now said hey I took my cruiser out with just about 5k in...

    80 series towing questions

I've got a distribution hitch that lives on my Ford, would swap right into the cruiser receiver, adjustable height so would level out the trailer fine as well. I've been wanting to delete the abs and lspv anyways so maybe I'll do that first and drive around town with as it is and see how the...

    80 series towing questions

Might be downgrading to a smaller trailer or upgrading to a larger rig, I've been spoiled having the 350 to tow with, but want my tow rig and my wheeler to be the same

I'm was thinking trans weak point, figured these diffs pretty bulletproof. But for sure I'm gonna go with 5k no matter motor to stay safe, looks like I'll be getting my trailer weighed.

    80 series towing questions

Hey guys, I got a 95 LC can't find any pin point on the towing capacity for this thing. I have a full tow package for it but the stickers are all worn off. Trans is on it's way out so I'm debating doing an LS swap since I have both a 6.0 and a 5.3 laying around at my shop. Does anyone know what...

    Trans issues

Hi guys, I got a 95, obd2, 343 trans, fzj80. 277k not account for the last 30k or so of bigger tires. Truck sat for about a month when I was doing some dailying and work on my vw. Had to jump the truck to get it to run, drove great 45 miles. Got off the freeway and felt like it was in second...

Part time keeping center diff reliability?

Not a bad idea, I might go to that down the road. Another reason i wanted to keep the center VC is to to back to stock configuration is a simple 20 minutes worth of hub swapping. I was gonna do a thumbs up emoji but I feel that woulda made me look like a sarcastic a** completely unintended lol

Part time keeping center diff reliability?

You know, smokey tire things. Not exactly the first thing you do in an lc but in the mud or dirt that's a fun thing, plus saying you made it through an obstacle in 2wd is pretty satisfying, also I did search a bit but couldnt find anything specific about the reliability of the vc when locked...

Part time keeping center diff reliability?

Slightly for a couple mpgs, but also a big reason is tuesday I have a rear lunchbox locker showing up and feel it would maybe be a little awkward feeling with an open front AWD and a rear mech locker. I've driven rear welded and rear locked vehicles before but never an awd with half and half...

Part time keeping center diff reliability?

Ah yes I have a 95, sorry bout that forgot to mention that part. So makes sense, i would never run the front and center unlocked as I knew that would burn up the VC, but my main concern is how reliable.is the center lock system when remained locked for long periods of time? I know it's not quite...

Part time keeping center diff reliability?

Hey guys, I think this is my first post on here. Yesterday I picked up a set of rebuilt AISIN hubs (stupid of me as I know I have some from my old 4runner somewhere in my garage). I put them on and they work great, but has anyone kept the center coupler for long periods of time? I would like to...
