Probably would, but I can't think of any 18s with more offset than these. And 17s are already a bit large for my taste. Really don't want to go with a larger wheel. I think it would look funny in proportion to the truck

Rear axle gets portals as well

The steel wheels pictured came off of a 2500 ram truck. The AEV wheels are also made for the 2500 ram and have the same offset as the steel wheels. So the steel wheels with spacers would stick out 1" further on each side than the AEV wheels. Now this will still leave me with a slightly...

So I started searching for other wheel options. It's difficult to find wheels that actually have a positive offset. Seems that most people want their wheels to stick way out... I need the opposite. I sent AEV some measurements to see if the Salta HD wheels would fit, and they said it would...

This has been a bit of a challenge to say the least. Lol I was hopeful that my 17" steel wheels would work with the wheel brake setup. Unfortunately, they would not without a 1" wheel spacer. The area where the two wheel pieces are welded together is just too small. Only option is to use a...

Old blue 85 extra cab 22re shop truck build

Ok makes sense. Rear suspension in it's off-the-shelf form may work pretty good for me. Will be carrying some extra weight on this one. If you can grab a front hub-to-fender measurement I can subtract 1.5" from that and see if it might work for me. Do you keep this suspension setup in stock?

Lift looks good. How much did you chop out of your front fenders? Just to the body line around the original opening? I'm trying to guesstimate/visualize if this setup will work for me. Any plans to do crossover steering?

I need to do some digging into this. I believe I've heard where the x-runner Tacoma came with 3.15 gears. But I'm also thinking that 2nd gen Tacoma used the 8.4 diff?? I don't know enough about them at the moment. But 3.15 or even 3.31 would be great.

The H1/hmmwv actually just uses AMC20 differentials that are flipped to run backwards. The are independent suspension, so there are no axle tubes. Just stubs for cv axles and brake rotors. Also, the whole deal about driving on the coast/drive side isn't really a big deal. In your toyota, the...

No idler gears in the H1 portals. How do you think the H1 drives these things backwards (to go forward)? Flipped diffs. If it were easy then I guess everyone would be doing it. 🤷‍♂️

I don't plan on any major rebuilding. They look like new inside and everything is tight. If anything, I might replace the air seals that ride on the main shaft extensions. I had to replace those on my H1. After so many miles they start to cut into the shaft extension and then they start...

Got the portal boxes tore down and ready to get cleaned up. When I got them they were pretty gross and still had old ball joints/tie rod ends on them. Bead blast cleans them right up. Next step is to finish tearing them down and test fitting the new parts (wheel brakes, steering arms..etc)

Question for everyone. Truck goes in for paint/body at the end of this month (couple weeks). I'd like to replace all of the exterior weatherstripping at the same time. Most of the original stuff is dry and crusty it seems like. Are original parts still available or is there some aftermarket...

Plan is to use v6 third castings, weld a guard in place to slow the drain from pinion bearings, overfill a bit and then just monitor. Using high pinion castings flipped to low pinion would make sense, but...... The lowest numerical gear option is 4.10 so that won't work. Will see what happens

More work done on the canopy bed. Door seals are worked out. Doors are almost finished. Still need latches and hinges.
