Hello! I'm thinking about importing a Surf to Canada from Japan, however, the model I have my eye on (KDN215) is a 4th gen, and anything manufactured past 2002 I cannot import due to regulations here. Is there any way to check the exact date of manufacture (not registration or sale) of a Surf to...

Yeah I know, it just seems like the 4th gen body style is more similar in some ways than the 3rd gens. For example, the front basically looks the same where there were some differences between the 3rd gens. Not that it matters all too much though

My bad, that was a mistype on the engine type. I have my eye on the 4th gen Surf because it seems like it's very similar to the 4Runner of the same year body-wise, which could be useful if I'm replacing parts. It's been fairly hard to find what models have the 1KD though because there I haven't...

So recently I have been looking at the toyota diesels and have been trying to find one with a 1KD-FTV and it seems that the Hilux Surf KDN215 has what I'm looking for. However, something seems off to me because these seem to be unpopular. Searching only turns up parts and Russian reviews of the...

My main concern with towing is going up hills. Here in Canada there are many steep grade slopes I would have to tow up and down so I'm just worried that the KZ would kill itself overheating or something going up these. I would straight up get a KZ if otherwise, as I really like the surfs, but I...

I've heard really good things about the KD. As for the KZ Surf though, any idea what kind of load on the engine I would be looking at if I'm towing a light trailer? I just don't want to buy and maintain a KZ Surf only to have it nuke itself 1000KM from home

There are a bunch of guys in my province, and even in my general area that own Toyota diesels (such as this) as they're fairly popular due to off roading here in Canada

I wouldn't be going very big with tires. Likely only up to 31s at the absolute maximum as I want to keep as much mileage as possible. Do you have any idea how either handles during towing? I'm planning to do a bit and I'm trying to figure out if either engine will tow up hills on a long trip...

Hello there! I have been researching the various Toyota diesel engines that come with Hilux Surfs from about 2003 and under, and it seems to me that the engines I'm going to be looking for would either be the 1KZ or 1KD (In the actual car of course not just the engine). My problem is, however...
