I have, the first couple times this occurred, I went ahead and cleaned it and it didn't seem to impact it at all.

I'm sure it'll depend on the year and what you hope to accomplish. With that being said, there's a guy in NC I believe that does tunes for lots of Tacomas and 4Runners and they all talk about the increased throttle response, increased butt dyno, and seemingly no impact on MPG if not better...
