anyone interested. there's nothing difficult, probably wont even have to lock the hubs but as I've not muddied a tire in 2 months I need to get out. thinking of just half day if the things line up properly.

Is that Stonewall Falls???

nope, Amicalolla falls b/w Jasper and Dahlonega (sp?) It's a state park with a huge waterfall and campgrounds, it's neat. in fact it used to back right up to Anderson Creek which we all know is now closed but there remains a couple of little roads. It's not much to get excited about except it gets you out of the house and is only 30 mins from Cumming.

I wish I could. I have too much momentum going on the project truck. I'm afraid to stop!

I'll be up there tomorrow. I bought a fj62 3 weeks ago and I want to take it easy on her to see what works and what doesn't. We are going to camp out on Sat where everyone said to in an earlier post. If you decide to go, we'll be out there. Justin.

missed the earlier post you refer to so don't know the campsite. I was thinking a half day and being home around 2 or 3, where are you guys going to be?

We will most likely be somewhere close to the directions below. Trying to camp near the water. We are probably going to get up there around 12pm and hit the FS roads. I have never been up there so I don't know where exactly I'll be, but thats the fun part! Gray FJ62

from:Nashville, TN to:Nimblewill Church Rd to:34.605096,-84.15081 - Google Maps

Interpreting the map:
Off Nimblewell Church Road, go north up fs-28.
Bear left and keep going north at fs-77/28 split, taking fs-77.
The next left is fs-77a --- it's a hard downhill sort of left that's easy to drive past.
Follow 77a for a while. Up some hills, down some hills, around a pretty sharp bend. It's bumpy but not a "trail", just a semi-maintained road.
You'll come to clearing eventually with a grassy field on the left, a bit of muddy road in front and a very small bridge, and a right turn that isn't on the GPS --- take this right turn, it is fs-877 and you'll see a small sign that says that.
As you go up 877, you'll immediately see 3 campsites on the left; this is the popular area for weekend warriors. The larger and more private sites are toward the end of this road. Just keep going and you'll understand. You'll come to two water crossings; there are 2 campsites before the first one, one in the middle on the island, and 3 after the second ---- this stretch is the area to occupy.

I do remember this post now, know exactly where that is and plenty of water and good campsites. Don't know if you have a CB but most likely be hanging out on Ch 34. We'll try to find you.

Brian----Looks like I'm a definite for 9:30 location

So are you going? Give me a call this morning

Andrew, Brian and I are are meeting at the Chick fila just south of Hwy 53 and 400 at 9:30.

We had a good time yesterday. Hilldweller turned out to be a pretty good guy even if he does drive a *eep. Andrew, sorry you had to bail early, we made it back to the falls around 4:30 so it was probably a good thing.

Anything fun up there or was it only dirt roads?

well, put it to you this way. The *eep had to put it in 4Low while Brian and I didn't even lock the hubs despite trying to find the tougher lines. :flipoff2: Truth is Bill probably didn't have to either but he's open open and didn't want to risk anything. Otherwise, very pretty, a little rutted and rocky and a good way to burn a day.

I took 2 pictures the entire day, perhaps Brian and Pillguy can fill in the gap.

I tried about 6 times to upload to flicker and had no luck. Not trying again so cant help. Sorry

In the eyes of a 9 year old....

I had a great time despite the mild terrain. I used 4wheel drive (h) for most of the trip, more of a safety factor than anything. Joseph, my 9 yr old copilot had a "Awesome" time 4 wheeling. He rarely uses that word to describe anything. He really enjoyed watching Ted go through the mud and us as well. He loved the forests and the snake we saw. His big highlight was manning the CB radio, He told me it made him feel very important. I am sure it will be something he always remembers. We actually turned around and tried to catch up with you guys as I got the greenlight to stay a bit later, but I made it to the springer gap sign and was not sure what way you guys turned so we had to turn around. We tried raising you guys on the CB, but I guess they have very limited range. Hence I guess I need to take the HAM class.

Will get pictures and grainy videos up tonight. Sorry I did not have my good camera, but it was packed away somewhere.

It would be fun to go again, esp. after a good rain.

That's it, pal. I'll have you bowing before the magnificence of the almighty JEEP at our next outing.
...and that blackmail photo that I have of you and a certain someone...
