even though the previous owner had put specters rebuilt door hinges in, both front top hinges were toast and causing the door to fall every time you opened it and requiring a slight lift to close it.

pressing the pin out sucks so bad, i took it to work and had one of the mechanics get it out. i then lightly reamed the center portion to fit fj40 door hinge bushings.

cut down one fj40 door hinge pin to fit and assemble. now, when the bushings go bad again, it's easy to pop the pin out and install the cheap fj40 bushings. there was someone making them from brass and selling on ebay. i don't have the info, but i'm sure a search in the 40 section would locate them

factory yes, but you can buy aftermarket brass ones. i haven't tried them, but if they fit a stock 40 hinge, i don't see why they wouldn't work

Interestingly enough, when I called SOR to order a refurbed hinge, this is what they said they did! They use 40 pins and bushings to rebuild 55 hinges.

Ige, how much material did you have to bore out?

Barely any...I went up one, maybe two drill bit sizes
