Looking to get some duplicate keys made up for my 73 piggy. Door key is different than the ignition key. Where can I get Toyota blanks? Local hardware store had blanks for the ig key but not the door. Thanks in advance. Gary S

I forgot the key code, but no smith I went to could get one, they knew which blank, but is was unobtainium to them, yota told me the same. I heard SOR had some, but gave up before getting that far. wonder if a 60 series lock could swap into a 55:hhmm: But my 62 series just drove off so I've not to compare the two till later today...this should be in pigtek BTW;) even if you were hopin to find a few for sale, I feel this topic is worthy of its very own pigsticky...We'll figure something out;)

I just went through this. I tried all over SoCal without luck. finally stumbled across a web business called Dr Lock. I think it was DrLock that had both door and ignition key blanks. If you need more info ill look it up. Tech guys were helpful and the price was fair. Mailed fast.

I talked to " Key-Men.Com " and they need a code to make a key. He's too busy to take apart a lock, in order to make a key.

So, the only code I found was on the Ignition lock, none on the door or tailgate.

QUESTION: On an original wagon, from the factory, did one key work everything.

OldBeachBob, could look up your guy and post his contact information. We need a back up.

Thanks Ige,

Slow 71 has no keys and the parts wagon has an Ignition key, which opens the doors and does the quarter turn in the tailgate. There is a code number on the Ignition lock, so I can get a key made, but none on the other locks.

all the pigs here are mid 70s and i don't remember what my 69 had, so maybe back then, it was just one key. the early 40s were all one key and went to two when the ignition became double sided in the mid 70s.

I believe all of the locks should be the same. When I had my key made the key man told me to bring the ignition tumbler to him, not a door lock. He said the ignition has the right numbers on it. The key is a wierd one though, it'd be nice to have a real Toyota key. This is for a 71 that came with no keys when I bought it.

Not god news

Picked up my blanks at the dealer yesterday- they're not correct. Won't fit into the door or rear window locks. s***. I'll keep looking, gonna try a locksmith near where I work when I get back there tomorrow. I need to look through my keys- might just have one that will work with my doors.
On this 55 and most 55's I've owned (maybe 2 dozen or so) there were different keys- one for the ignition only and one for the doors and tailgate and fuel filler door if so equipped. Gary S

gary, were all your ignitions in the column? i think that's when they went the two key setup. i think the dash ignition cruisers used one key

My '79 has one key for ignition, locks, fuel door and tailgate. I bought this blank from $OR, it's not the right uncut profile :-(. Let me know if any of you can use it -

Early 55s were one key, Nuclear Lemon is correct, about 73 or 74 when they went to the steering column ignition set-up they went to two keys, doors, fuel door, and tailgate were one, ignition switch was a new style key and separate. They got a lot of owner pushback on the need to use two different keys, ( too many folks trying to jam an ignition key in a door lock and vice versa, so in the late 70s while getting ready for the 60 series they swapped it back to one key doors and ignition.

Ill look for some kind of receipt for my last key blank purchase, still not very organized after my recent 1/2 move to Idaho.

I think the late ignition keys are the same as the 60 series, but will check later today.

From the local True Value three years ago. Ignition is labeled Ilco and has two sets of numbers, X137 and TR33. Locks and tailgate also Ilco w/number T61F. Cut from an OEM ignition key with the same TR33 and X137 numbering and locks/tailgate from a Curtis blank numbered TR27-4.
Hope this helps...
