Oldest 45 I have ever seen.

Just got wind of this and wanted opinions.
Imported from New Zeland RHD
Interesting doors, very old school no window cranks.
Crome bezel with Land Cruiser stamp.
Body seems too good for 1962
Disc brake front from a 60 series

The Bad:
Chevy 350 with 3sp automatic.
Motor mounts and crossmember modified
SWB and non removable top.

Guy wants 7K what do you think? I bow to the experts on the board.

7K is not a bad price for a ready to drive 45. The SWB fixed cabs do have less room--so you will want to see how you fit in it. Finding an original style bed will be a pain. Just make sure the frame is good and the sheet metal. Be interesting to see the VIN number to see when the truck was actually produced. As they slowly changed or introduced new models they often used parts from previous years until they were all gone---may be the reason for the doors. RHD do tend to sell for less in the states---people are just funny about them--easy to drive.

Been watching that since he bought in on Ebay. ;) Considering what he paid the price isn't too far out of whack from his costs.

Most of the questions I have could be answered with a visit: How was the engine conversion done? What adapter? What transfer case? What rear? What's up with the steering? Body condition can only be determined in person.

Unless the brake master has been changed, you've got all of the benefits of discs with none of the safety (see pic). To go back original you'd need a 61-62 parts rig sitting next to it, but it may be fun as-is. :D

Yeah, I'm the guy that emails him once a year asking if it's still available.

nice rig, looks like the steering wheel is from 81-84, the guages have been gone thru, the speedo is the white background and the others are black background.
the doors appear to be missing pieces, should be a track inside the door that the window catches on every few inches, those would be original to that year I think, as I had a 63 similar to that.

no heater on those years, so no defrost also.

There is a 63 FJ40 on the Classified boards with the same doors if you wanted buy it for spare parts.

I have the lowest frame number I've heard of until this one. Mine is 2FJ45-13057, so just under 1700 older than mine. Mine has doors with regulators, but I have seen a '63 45 SWB and a '63 40 with the slide up window hard doors. Both had "3" series frame numbers. I have often wondered if they ran RHD trucks along side LHD on the assembly line. Especially since the frames are marked with the number pre-assembly, a guess on my part.

I like it and price is not bad if that is what you want. I think the biggest reason it's in that price range is the fact that it's "right hand" model. The next big question I would be wondering about is how much more money would you dump into it to make it the way you want it. Regardless on your decision, right now is a good time buy one.

RHD is very easy to drive. I've owned dozens of them and they are simple to handle on US roads. I wouldn't let that be a factor
