I'm planning a similar outfit for The Mule, except I think I'd keep the bed stock, or use a toolbox bed, and cap it off with a homemade heavy-duty tonneau cover and a rack on the cover for equipment and a tent, and a smaller rack over the cab for more gear storage.
My idea is that I don't really need the weight and bulk of a hard-sided box, and I'd prefer the lower profile and better visability of the tonneau route.

I triple DOG dare you.....;)you ain't done yet? I saw a 75 or 79 series mwb sportin a camp pod on it. Looked very close to your rendering. I fell in love immediately.

Read the desert expedition manual thread. The author is down on roof racks and high loading and makes a good argument.

lol much better .......to bad ya couldnt make a face peeking out of the back of the camper or make it look like the truck was a rockin so dont come a knockin

I'm not loving the Coleman stove next to the fuel cans. Why not make a kitchen slide out that fits under the bed inside when not in use?

Two wimmens will also be a problem, one woman on a camping trip is enough.

And are you really going to let that keg sit out in the sun like that? You need this;

I love the concept, but a short wheel base vehicle is just not very suitable as an expedition truck. The ride is so much worse on washboard, especially with a lot of weight on top.
cheers,
J
