ok so i have started to mod an air box to have a 4" inlet to marry up to my snorkel. now due to the snorkel i have had to put the inlet straight on instead of at an angle as per factory setup. i have also removed the inner guard (whatever you want to call it the bit that stops the air hitting the filter straight away)
now should i put one of these back in to help the air circulate around the filter or should straight into the filter be alright?

Looks pretty good. You'll get a big dirty patch if you don't have the baffle guard thing in there though

x2 Especially in wet weather. The moisture in the air will form a mud patch at the front of the filter. A lot of filter boxes these days have swirl patterns to help circulate the air right around the filter

Subscribed, just got back from the wreckers looking for another diesel air box and petrol lid and saw this thread, also going the 4 inch snorkel.

ok so i have now finished the air box mod. 1 thing i would suggest is try and source the same air box if you don't want to mod your original box. the issues i had were
- mounting legs not in the same positions
- air filter restriction sensor mounting postion different
this must be due to the fact i was using the air box out of a 97 model petrol.

deflector in position. also this is the deflector that come with the air box and is different when i compare it to my deflector that come in my 91 model air box.

petrol air box lid

and what the air box will be connected to.

yES! I was hoping you were going to oversize the snorkel, otherwise it seems redundant to oversize that part of the air can.

So.. 4" SS? how did you get the bends so nice? Are they tigg'd? Ive been pondering that for my rig as it probably flows more air then the factory system.

Would love to see more pics of the snorkel!

Ok this is where I got the snorkel from

http://www.fatzfab.cqoz.com/services/snorkel/snorkels.html

The screens on the rear windows are more for extra shade for the kids

And the petrol lid because someone else said it flows better but I will run with the 1hdt lid untill i fit my gturbo unless I am to slack to change it over. And it come with the air box I got.

Snorkels are a popular mod in rockhampton these days I guess?
