Hi.

Where on my old 2H block do I find a 35mm Freeze plug to put my block heater in ?
Have read on this forum for some places to look, but can't find any so pictures are appreciated :)

Have the early 2H engine with one solid exhaust manifold.

Thanks

I have a block heater on my 2H, I'll try to get a picture as soon as I can. Pretty sure it's on the pass side of the engine right behind the starter (not easy to get at).

Same spot as the 3B engine?

Is there only one place to fit it ?

Thanks

A picture would be nice.

Are there only freezeplugs on the right side to every air intake flange ?

Shouldn't the block heater be fitted as low as possible for better heating of the engine?

Thanks

On my 2H block, the block heater is plugged in pretty high and right at the firewall. I don't see the freeze plugs or maybe don't know what they look like to see them, but I traced the wire on mine and it went somewhere so difficult to see that I had to stand on a stool just to see it!

I tried taking a pix, but man, even with the iphone deep in there, I could not get one off, sorry! There must be a place there (right behind the valve cover towards the firewall) that is meant for block heaters. I haven't tried if mine works, but it does have continuity, which is a good sign I guess :)

Could you make a red circle on this picture towards where you think it is ?

The only places I can Image to place one is in one of the freezeplugs I have yellowed out on the below picture, preferable on te one that cabin heater lines are attached to, but would like to have it lower for better oil heating ...

Its not even ON that picture. I'll try to climb in and get a picture for you, I'm still stuck at work though, so might not be able to do it tonight.

My best description would be its towards the back of the engine. The front left being where the IP is. What's on the back? That's where the wire goes.

Based on the Temro catalog, it should be on the right rear (when sitting on the truck) (See page 25 here). So in the picture with the yellow circles it will be the on the left...

Found some more picture online (stolen from TLC Norway :smokin:)

As you see there are freeze plugs both in the front and backside on the engine.

Would any off these be better places to attach a block heater, especially the lowest on the back?

Maybe one on each side for better heating of the whole engine?

Hei Lasse!
The plug i used is on the passenger side, right behind the intake manifold. On the picture of the hanging motor to can barely see the end of the plug.
Snapped a picture too, you can barely see it.

So it will be the freeze plug closest to the torpedo wall that I circled out in yellow ?

Yup, correct! Pita to get in there.

Let me know if anyone feels left out for not writting in englsih and I will change, but its really only off topic :)

i see.

Forresten, ser du har 5trinns i 83mod. kor du fant tak i den? eg e ute etter 5trinns kasse.

guys, I don't own one of those trucks, but don't you want block heater mounted in one of the freeze plugs areas in the block and not the cylinder head. The pic above with the yellow circles points to freeze plugs in the cylinder head. Post #6. Are there not some freeze plugs in the engine block that are accessible for a coolant heater install?

I guess if those are the only freeze plugs you can gain access to then whatever works but I assumed the goal was to use a freeze plug in the short block?

Yep, that would be the best option as heat rises, but there are no other freeze plugs other than those in the cylinder head. At least not that I have found.
