Will a 1PZ fit into a 1st gen 4runner? I know the 151 will mate to the tcase, but am unsure if the engine will fit into the bay. Anyone heard of this conversion before?

My feeling is that the PZ is going to be too long to fit in the engine bay.

i have seen a 5cyl mercedes fit into a 4runner, it has electric fans since it was a tight fit.

the PZ will need shoe-horning and possible front clip mods but would make that truck rock.

possibly with electric fans the pz would fit without mods to the front clip.

in a xcab, a mercedes 5cyl (omb617) will fit with the fan with stock toyota tranny(w56) in stock position
in 4runner, the omb617 will fit without the fan with w56 in stock postion.

((omb617 doesnt bolt up to w56 without an adapter)) ;)

Does the 1PZ fit the W56 or does it need the R151 tranny?

I dont know the w56 at all but if the bellhousing to trans interface is the same as the 151 you may be able to make it work. The 151 with the PZ has an input shaft that does not appear to cross with any other application. An H55 will fit up to the PZ but thats not a help in this situation.

I can take some measurements if you tell me what you want.

i dont knpw why youd want a w56, it doesnt even have a splitcase style tcase.
i think the onyl advantage to w56 is that they are very common in north america and cheap to get a hold of,

Exactly. :). Just wondering.
