These are incredibly hard to find at this point. I didn’t cut any corners and you won’t find any hidden surprises. All the nutserts have been chased and are clean
Any little brown or discolored spots in the pics is old paint or primer, NOT rust.
The gate DOES have a variety of dents or high/low spots that will need to be addressed with filler. The majority and the difficult repair is done tho, I have nearly 20 hours into it on my end. Do the math on paying a shop that actually knows what they are doing (and assume they even do it correctly) on what that labor would reasonably cost
I have both side latches, they are stiff but will probably loosen up. I have 2.5 of the 3 total hinges. I’m missing a lower “half”. I have the bolt on chain brackets that bolt to the upper portion of the gate.

So…this is an unknown year FST tailgate which I’ve had kicking around for years. It’s time to repair it and move it on to the next owner as I already have one on my FJ40. Will likely land in the Classifieds when I’m done, see it re-worked in real time here
Factory color was light blue, under brushed on black house paint. Horizontal Blue? Capri Blue? Who knows
This tailgate is a perfect example of the “repair” being worse than the actual problem. And the problem was obviously a bit of rust on the rear inner lip.
Prior to today, I’d blasted the gobs of bondo off it to find this...
