ok sorry guys I got tied up on some interior stuff earlier in the week.

here goes:

If your D light is out, order the replacement bulbs from CDan- May want to get some xtras.

This install took about 40 mintues.

2 tricky parts.

Removing the right side air vent pieces without damaging it and unplugging the 4 connectors in the back of the instrument pod as there isnt a ton of room back there....

1st pic:

Visualize success. There are basically ony 5 pieces that need to be removed....

2nd pic:
remove lower dash panel- 4 screws -easy

The D light in my wife's is out. About those pics... If you have an easy way to do this, I'm all eyes.

ok next unclip the connectors from this middle panel.... easy stuff..

I'll have to give this a try as I'll be replacing mine as well. Is it the same proceedure for the pre 95 dashes?

ok ..

here comes the tougher part... not too tough but just be gentle....

See my hand.... you are now going to remove the upper dash panel. The one w/ the air vents attached.

Pull/ pry in this general area on the right... pull gently until the clip at the lower section comes out... -- some what easy

ok... little tougher here.....

you will now pull out the right side of this panel.

The clip is in the lower right hand side of that air vent.

See where my hand is... pry there slowly.

see the next pic... pry there next.. slowly

you should be able to get this dash panel out now...

success!!!!

fyi.... see that damn clip in the 2nd pic.... getting that out is sometime a bear...

time to get to work....

on to the dash cluster

1st pic:

see how the edge of the cluster is behind the middle dash... keep that in mind.

remove the top of the steering column. 4 screws I think. They are in the bottom of the steering column.

Having the column out makes more room.

now to unplug the 4 connectors to the cluster..

I start with the 1 connector on the upper right side...

see where my hand is... there is a connector there. press on the top of the connector to unlatch it then pull it out... yes it is tight in there....

now try to rotate the cluster to the right so you can get your left hand behind the left side.... see my hand....

you may have to play with the cluster to get enough room...

Unplug the middle connector. It is right at the center of the cluster. Press on the sides of it to unclip then pull it out.

Next unclip the 2 connectors on the left hand side.

Hard part over... well except for the installation which is the reverse process....

here is the cluster coming out

the 2nd pic is the 4 connectors you just unplugged...

brown- middle
blue- top left
grey-middle left

now to get the center module out.

there are 4 latches that hold the module in. press them all at once and pull the module out. This takes practice and isnt too easy as it is a little awkward

ok... I am out of room for attachments.... seems like I used all the space allowed....

Anyway there are brown plugs in the side of the white module you just pulled out....

Look for the one that lines up with the D light. Twist the brown plug to remove... replace with new brown plugged light....

put everything back together....

FYI--- Moderator: How can I gain my attachment allocated space back? Since i have all this pics posted.... I dont want to delete them but I cant post additional pics......

Same thing happened to me once I was hooked. Nice write up.:) So If you want to pass go, you must pay $20.00 then you can post all of the pics you want. I look at it as a very small donation toward access to such an awesome group.

Its probably close, except that the piece that covers the gauges also runs across to where the radio is. Its one big, fragile, piece of plastic that's about 3ft. across. Other than that I think its probably the same.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Good writeup, and good job with the pics. One question though. How many miles did you truck lose while you were in there? :D

Nice. This should go in FAQ.

I agree. This is FAQ material. I would suggest that someone grab the pics and host them or post them as attachments.

I'd hate to see the pics lost if/when citadel deletes something so he can post another pic.

Excellent write up....I'll probably wait till all of them go out and get them done in one shot. I know where to look once that time comes though.

Excellent write up, hopefully citadel will see the value and purchase a star to be able to post the rest of the pictures without us loosing what he has posted thus far. I agree this would be good to have in the FAQ. Would also be a great time to do RavenThai's temp guage mod.
